Green living is the way to save our planet, however banal it may sound. You have probably heard of green living already, which is the new way of using resources and disposing of them. Even if you know a lot about it, it can be hard to define what to start from. Fortunately there are some simple things you can do to become more eco-friendly.

The first small step could be to use less paper towels. You may ask – and how are paper towels in my house related to saving of the world? Actually they are straightly related to it. Using less paper towels is the least you can do to contribute to saving raw materials for making paper. Your family alone is unlikely to change something considerably, but you are not alone! Taking all the families together or at least half of them we may receive a great power that can choose to change the world for the worse or the better with some simple actions, like choosing how to use and dispose of paper at home. Besides, you can save money on paper towels and buy textile ones which are much more practical and easy to wash.

Stopping using plastic bags is another small step. Plastic bags are a great threat to the environment – they are small, numerous, and never decay completely (actually, practically never – in thousands of years). Plastic containers of different kinds have the same effect. There are actually a lot more materials for making food containers than plastic. By reducing the use of plastic or gathering it properly and giving it to the recycling centers we will prevent further pollution.

The newest household appliances are mostly designed for energy consuming purposes, and if you can afford to get some, you had better refresh your kitchen a bit. But if you can afford this type of being eco-friendly you still have many other ways to reduce your energy payments. The simplest way is to turn off your computer every time you no longer need it instead of leaving it just like that. Get used to turning off the light in the room where there is nobody even if you plan to leave the room for a couple of minutes. Unplug all the household appliances in the home, because even turned off they can still consume some energy if they have lights. It can seem that these minor actions can save you very little energy, but in fact it is much more than you think. Just out of interest, try doing all these things during one month, and in the end of it you will receive your electricity bill and it will speak for itself, and you will be very surprised and, hopefully, more keen on green living.

Being smarter about using the resources of your life and planet is really great. Your input is very serious – you just need to understand basic recycling facts.
