With the world all being connected to the great world wide web and the advances in technology coming such a long way, a lot of businesses are now saving money on office space by having their employees work at home instead of in their office space. Many people are excited about the concept but once they begin they realize they are not as productive and easily distracted by things at home . This will describe ways on how to be productive at home and even more productive in less time like setting up a real office in your home complete with an executive desk or executive desks, giving yourself work hours, shutting off your home phone and other ideas .

The first thing to do when setting up for your transition to working from home is to set up an real office space. If you presently have a guest room that rarely gets used, you may want to convert it to your new office. Another suggestion would be to convert part of your basement or even garage to an office space. This may not be as large of a project as you would think and would pay off later on when it is time to resell your house . If this is not a possibility , then find a tranquil space and has more room to set up a real working space .

Now that you have the space for your office , it is a smart idea to make it as much as a professional space as possible . Instead of using a foldable tray table invest in purchasing office furniture and a desk , one that would be similar to the one you had at your office . If you physically have a professional space to go to every day within your house , it will help you mentally to transition into that mode since you no longer have to commute there to do that. In addition to that have a second line installed for a phone line to be used for faxes, etc or just use your cell phone as your business phone. These expenses probably would be covered by your employer .

You should be disciplined with your schedule from home . Once a lot of people work from home, it is easy to be distracted by the other things at home, such as the TV, the kids, chores to be completed , etc. You should continue to wake up at the same time you always did for your job and now that you do not have to commute can get started on your work day a bit earlier . Also, it is imperative to shower and change just like you did when you went to work . Obviously it is not necessary to put on a suit to be at home, but just the act of showering and getting dressed before you start working also helps to set the tone to be more productive .

Once all of these things are done and you maintain a schedule you will find yourself getting more work done in less time which will allow you to enjoy other things outside of work .
