Free Online Poker Beginners How To Poker Bet Guide

This free online poker article is a guide to poker bets.
Basically, a poker bet is a declaration that either:
A) You have a strong hand and will put money on it. B) You have a poor hand and will fold if you have to put money on it.
Poker theory says that players should bet if they have a strong hand. Players who don’t have good hands are supposed to fold. Of course, if it was this simple, there would be no need for this article and most players play contrary to this idea, attempting to be a cunning player.
Don’t fall into this trap when you are just learning to play. Your betting strategy should be built upon this simple idea, but you must know when to stray and bet in situations when you otherwise wouldn’t.
Here are some poker bet tactics you should start learning in order to improve your game:
Stealing Blinds
You are in the dealer’s position with only the blinds left in the game, if you raise here it is called “blind stealing”. This is since the blinds often fold, whereas if you did not raise but instead called they would just check. It’s a good way to make a buck or two, but will never make you rich. But it is a good way to close a hand down fats and get into a new hand with more players and therefore money.
The steal-raise
A Steal Raise is where you’re last to act and the other players have all checked to you, you bet to limit the number of players or scoop the pot. Do not use it all the time else good players will notice and check raise against your (probably) weak hand. The Steal Raise is good when you have an good draw hand like a nut flush draw. Players tend to check to the raiser. If you draw to your hand, you now have a larger pot to win. If you do not you can choose to check and hope the river card completes your hand.
The check-raise
Check raising is checking to your opponent, with the intention of luring them to bet, so that you can raise them back. Your intention is to lure them into a false sense of security so that you can raise them and increase the pot as after one bet is committed, its more likely they’ll commit to two.
The opener
This is generally reckless and used by bluffers. It is when the first player raises and so forces all other players to call 2 bets at once. The aim is to limit the number of players in the hand. Essentially it is a reverse steal-raise. It will make many players to fold, but the ones remaining will either be equally aggressive or have a great hand. The Opener is also known as betting for information. This tactic is best used with few players in on the hand.
Squeezing
Squeezing is used only in a short handed games. It’s betting when you have a good hand currently, and you suspect another player or players may be on a draw. You may, for example, have a top pair with best kicker. Most likely they will not make their draw. So your aim is to reduce their pot odds.
The above examples are really just examples of bets. In no limit or limit Holdem there is further complexity in betting to consider.
When you’re dealt Aces, Kings, or AK suited, you can raise and even re-raise before the flop, no matter your position.
If you have a QQ or JJ you should be more cautious but it is likely that you are the the best hand preflop. You should raise to force out the draw hands, if there aren’t any raises in front of you.
If you have good cards such as paint suited, aim to raise from mid or late position if nobody else has raised before you. Should you raise from mid position and a late position player reraises, be cautious.
If they’re a strong player they probably have you beat in card strength unless they’re bluffing to try and take the blinds and antes.

Free Poker Online Tips on The What Poker Cards To Play From Which Poker Table Position
November 4, 2011 by admin
This poker free online training lesson covers possibly the most popular area of all. Namely pocket cards, what ones to play and from which position on the table.
Fact – To win good money in lower stakes poker you don’t need to be a professional. Free, micro and lower stakes tables have a constant inflow of new players who are very bad at playing poker and lose their cash fast. They lose all their cash to players who know this fact and are there waiting to pounce, these players aren’t pros but they do have good poker skills.
True, now and again one of these bad players will beat good players playing an insane hand like 4,7 unsuited but remember, this is the exception not the rule, it’s luck to them or to us, the extreme end of the probability curve. Overall, statistics prove that when you play only certain pocket cards from certain table positions you win over the long term.
A quick definition of Pocket Cards
Pocket cards are the 2 cards you get at the start of a hand, only you can see them.
The Proof
UCLA (the University of Chicago) mainframe computers played over 2 trillion hands of 10 handed Texas Hold Em poker games assessing all 2,652 possible combinations of two pocket cards (52 x 51 = 2,652). The results statistically defined pocket cards with both Positive Expected Value (+EV) that win in the long haul and Negative Expected Value (-EV) that lose.
However, before we can get into what pockets have +EV you need to know about the affect of Table Position.
The importance of Poker Table position
Poker tables are divided into three areas: Early, Middle, Late. You seat position is fundamentally important to card EV as you will see.
1) Early Positions are Small Blind, Big Blind and Under the Gun (UTG), UTG is the player on the left of the Big Blind.
2) The Middle Table Positions come next. Count left from the UTG player; Middle 1, Middle 2, Middle 3, and Middle 4.
3) Last, are the Late Table positions: Late 1, Late 2, and the Dealer Button.
For fast reference it is a good idea to code positions by 2 character codes: SB, BB, UG, M1, M2, M3, M4, L1, L2, and DB.
The thing to know is that pockets become playable or not depending on where you are sat.
Early Position. The pockets with Positive EV are:
AA
KK
QQ
AK suited
AQ suited
AK unsuited
Low pockets: 22 through to 99
All other pockets in Early are -EV, fold.
Middle: M1-4
The pockets with Positive EV are:
The same as early, plus:
AJ suited
AT suited
JJ
TT
AQ unsuited
AJ unsuited
AT unsuited
And any 2 suited paint cards (picture cards; any combination of K, Q, J, and T).
All other combinations are negative, fold them.
Late Position: L1, L2, and DB.
The pockets with Positive EV are:
Late is early plus middle plus:
A5 suited
A4 suited
A3 suited
A2 suited
A9 suited
And any 2 unsuited paint cards.
All others are negative, fold them
Other factors
With the exception of AA and KK, only play them if the cost to get to the flop is not over 3x the Big Blind bet. The Low Pockets, 22-99 have some further play rules in this regard but that is another whole article, look for that later.
To remember the playable pockets make a reference card to keep by your PC. Split it into 3 sections. Early, middle and late position with the playable pockets in each zone plus cost rules for low pockets.
So get to it then, once you have playable pockets nailed down you can start to play with a lot more confidence, go look up low pockets now, then make a poker cards to play guide reference card and get over to play some free online poker at NoPayPOKER.com to perfect your new skills.
Simple Guide Free Online Poker Training To The 50% Money Winning Poker Skill And A Simple Skill Improvement Exercise
This NoPayPOKER free online poker training lesson looks again at what we think is the number one poker skill that the largest amount of poker players do not have or even realize the importance of. It is a skill that is without a doubt the most important single skill in poker namely Patience.
Poker as a participant game has exploded in recent years due to the online poker scene, as a result millions of people who never have played poker against strangers for money or even played poker at all have jumped at it in the hope of making lots of easy money, a perception crated and fueled by many poker websites, the gambling industry as a whole and the media who have lapped up all the advertising dollars.
The majority of this new breed of poker player have little in the way of poker skills and most, if asked, will say that poker is mostly down to luck. That is a pity as what most of them don’t know is that if they took a bit of time to learn some basic skills and added in a dose of common sense then they could win, at the least, lower stakes online poker cash games consistently.
The fact that 90% of players do not take the time to learn means that the 10% who do are truly the wolves amongst the sheep. After all if poker is just luck how is it that we have consistent poker winners and professional players some of whom are actually multi millionaires as a result of their poker winnings? Exactly, in a game of luck that would be impossible, therefore poker is a game of skill or rather many skills.
There are dozens of poker skills that can be isolated but the one that stands heads and shoulders above all the other is Patience. If you can’t be patient when you play poker then it doesn’t matter that you are a psychology and math PHD who can calculate all the odds in an instant and read people like a book because if you can’t wait for the right cards at the right time, you’re doomed.
So why don’t we start some poker training by example of the use and application of patience.
Use of patience in poker tournament play.
In tournaments, especially at the start you need to defend against reckless players who throw their chips with no care at all, in the hope of landing a lucky break. It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking they know what they’re doing. They do not!
What you need to do is be patient and wait for premium cards. Fold some, lose a few chips in order that you win a whole pile of chips from them later when you hand comes in and at the same time knock them out.
Simply hold on and wait for some good cards from the dealer. Until then just relax. I know that it’s hard to sit by and you feel you should be involved but trust me, winning money is lots more fun that losing and at the end of the day poker is all about money rather than playing a game and in any case winning money is pretty good fun!
Patience Developing Exercise (PDE)
Here is a simple exercise, and it produces the desired results though it is boring and time consuming (though less so that losing!)
Go and join a free online poker freeroll. Make it one with a lot of players.
1) For the entirety of the game you’re only allowed to participate in a hand if you were dealt pocket aces or pocket kings.
2) No other pockets can be played.
3) And, you cannot initiate a bet, or put forth a raise.
4) If you do have AA or KK in the pocket, you can call a bet and partake in the hand.
5) But again, you can’t raise or start any betting.
6) Plus, if you are Big Blind and you don’t have AA or KK you must fold even if there has been no raise made against your Big Blind.
The PDE has helped thousands of players bring patience to the forefront of their skill sets.
When you play in a PDE game you’re only going to participate in about 1% of the hands. AA and KK are each dealt to you approximately once in every 212 pockets. So yes, I know, it is very boring! .
And I admit that this poker training article is a little boring as well but I would day, not as boring as being broke and, when you consider that this boring and rather invisible skill makes up over 50% of what it takes to win at poker I think you’ll agree the boredom of learning was worth it!
So if you are not already a patient player get over to a free online poker games freeroll and play the PDE game.
