If you do your research, a lot of dog psychologists will agree that dogs tend to sense the energy that comes from their owners. If you act like a pack leader, then all will be well, but if you seem to withdraw from authority, then your dog will most likely try to take control. It is important to be the alpha dog in every man-dog relationship. Dogs that are too aggressive can be quite disturbing and dangerous. Here are some tips I’ve learned from the professionals.

1. Exercise your dog regularly. It is very important to channel your dog’s energy the right way by draining every last bit of energy. If dog’s are too energetic, they will tend to drive it through a variety of ways, such as biting furniture, barking at other dogs or people and running wildly while on a leash. As the saying goes, “A tired dog is a happy dog.” Exercising or walking your dog also gives the two of you time to bond and boostyour relationship. You should spend around 30 minutes at least everyday playing or doing some physical activity with your furry companion. If you do not have enough time, you may search your Business card holders for professional dog walkers and dog sitting services.

2. Establish a routine. Your dog should understand when it is time to eat, time to pee or poop and time to exercise. The routine should originatefrom the owner. Ensure that you do the activities at the same time each day, so that your dog understands consistency. You may set your alarm clock right near your Business card case to keep up with the schedule. At first, you may findthis type of training gruelling, but you will quickly understand how well the dog responds. If your dog fails to eat his meal within 20 minutes, take the bowl away and give the next meal at the next scheduled time.

3. Who’s the master? There are plenty of indicators that your dog is trying to take dominance away from you. They may jump on you, urinate on your leg or even act violent at times. It is important that you offer the correlatingreward or punishment to always be seen as the master or dominant figure.

As the alpha male, you should be able to sense your dog’s energy and actions. Try to put more confidence and faithin your dog. For example, I would let my dog free in the backyard and just seem to mind my own actions, walking from one spot of the garden to another. If my dog follows accuratelywhere I am, I give him lots of praise. If he tends to stray away, I call his name in a stern voice, as if saying, “Stay close to me.”

Punishment can be useful at times, but I personally recommend using positive reinforcement to establish good practicesin your pets. If you are still a beginner, you may want to join obedience and training classes at respective institutions. You’ll be surprised to be capable of handling and disciplining your dog well in a coverageof a week or two. Search your Business card cases and compare the options and prices.
