If you plan to move to a new house there are many things that have to be taken care of.

You probably know that transporting a washing machine is one of the most dispised tasks of all when moving.

Everybody hates to do that. It’s like going to the dentist to get your teeth pulled… well, not AS bad, but you get the point.

It’s a lot of steel with concrete inside, to make it more heavy, and washing machine companies don’t seem to care about ergonomy.

Before you do anything else you absolutely want to disconnect the hoses. Usually some water will come out. Shake it a bit so that as much water as possible gets out.

Then fix the hoses - using tape to do that is the easiest way.

You know that washing machines can be really difficult to balance. That’s because of the inside - if it starts swinging inside, that’s terrible. So what do you do about that? Well, you just stuff a towel between the sides of the machine and the tub.

On the inside of washing machines, there always is some water left - and it usually drops out when you lift it and carry it around. Just be aware of that and don’t slip. Slipping while carrying a washing machine is really dangerous. So be sure you wear proper footwear that won’t just slide when you lift a washing machine.

Remember to always have the washing machine in upright position. If you for some reason can’t do that, then the best way is to put it on it’s back. But make sure that there is no leftover water inside in that case, cause otherwise the water might actually cause electrical damage inside the washing machine.

When transporting a washing machine in a car, drive considerate and avoid speeding or rapid breaks. A washing machine loaded on the back of your car can be really, really heavy on your car’s suspension.
