Massive Fall in Car & Commercial Vehicle Production – Flickers of Recovery from the After Market

Production of cars in the UK dropped 58.7% in January in comparison to the same month the year before, latest figures show. In total just 61,404 cars were manufactured in January 2009, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt announced today: “Following extended winter shutdowns, vehicle output continued to fall in January in line with expectations. The extent of the decline highlights the critical need for further Government action to deliver the measures already announced and ease access to finance and credit.”

The figures come on the back of a dramatic downturn in output in recent months. During the first few months of last year passenger car sales and therefore output continued to demonstrate healthy growth, and this in turn means that passenger car production for the whole of last year only fell by 5.7% compared with 2007, whilst commercial vehicle production fell by 5.9 per cent.

Nonetheless, when studied separately, the second half of the year gives a totally different story. Passenger car output plunged 47.5% in December 2008, in comparison to December 2007, whilst Commercial Vehicle production tumbled by 56.7%.

The scale of the decline highlights the critical need for further Government action to deliver the programmes which have already been announced. There is additionally an absolutely vital need to ease access to finance and credit.

In the last few days the leaders of the Unite union advised the Government that they feared the collapse of a car factory was “imminent” as they held private talks with Chancellor Alistair Darling to ask for more financial aid for the industry. The Union announced publicly that a manufacturing plant was in imminent danger of shutdown, and that this shutdown would cause the loss of almost 1,000 direct jobs and up to 5,000 jobs in the supply & distribution networks.

The Union advised Mr Darling that manufacturing wouldn’t pick up after the Credit Crunch unless “urgent assistance” was given. Many UK factories extended their normal Christmas and New Year stoppages in 2008/09 and in recent weeks there have been a string of announcements of job losses and production cutbacks.

In comparison with the manufacturing gloom, some sectors of the Automotive After Market are posting positive signs of growth. John Akin, head of Performance Wiper Blade importers XOPC reported that his company was recording record sales as motorists start to be more challenging & do more research before buying necessary consumables like Wiper Blades. He believed that the recession was becoming a good opportunity for his business, as drivers were more prepared to make purchase decisions based on performance, safety and value for money instead of just blindly following the existing established brands. He went on to atate that their unique 12 month warranty on all their Silicone Wiper Blades was proving to be a great attraction in these straightened times.

5 ways that social media help your Web Site Business

With the ever growing popularity of social media, internet marketers now have a massive tool box to grow their free online business. These sites allow webmasters to reach a lot of people on the internet in a very efficient manner. Web 2.0 platforms now include blogs, video and audio multimedia like podcasts, social bookmarking and tagging sites. This post will outline a strategy to attract multiple visitors for your web site business. The following Web 2.0 sites will be used:

video.yahoo.com
Squidoo.com
Technorati.com
Google Notebook
Blogger.com
MyBlogLog

Although we will only review the above social media platforms, keep in mind that there are thousands of Web 2.0 sites. It is strongly recommended that as you use this strategy to promote additional sites, change which sites you use and even add more.

One of the biggest challenges with this Social Media strategy is the time it takes to create accounts at each of the platforms. This initialization phase is critical because each account you create must appear to be valid and authentic. Remember, you’re trying to establish expertise while you promote your websites. You shouldn’t spam. This process takes time, but it works. As you promote your sites, you’ll find that it gets easier as you learn to navigate each Web 2.0 platform.

The strategy with Web 2.0 is to market your free online business within the niche specific social community. Be careful not to spam these sites, otherwise your efforts will be wasted. If you can become an accepted member of the “social network” then as you build your reputation, you may be considered an expert, which helps you grow your home internet business .

To effectively make this strategy work, you’ll need some quality pages on your website or blog that you will promote. I recommend the following 3 quality pages.

1) – “Link Bait” Page – this is a unique page on your website that should be a great resource for visitors. The content of this link bait page is informative and reinforces your site’s expertise. The link bait page should help to initially drive traffic to your free online business. Promote one of the keywords identified in your market research.
2) Index Page – very important to promote a high traffic “Power Keyword” phrase that you identified in your niche research.
3) PreSales or Sales Page(s) – These pages will contain your second, third and fourth level keywords. You may have heard of these keywords being referred to as “long tail.” If you’ve done your promotion the correct way, people who land on this page will be buyers.

Once you have posted these 3 pages, promote them using the following Web 2.0 strategy.

First, you’ll have to develop new articles to submit on these Social Media platforms for your target market. Your social media marketing plan must include quality content throughout the network of sites to which you post. I recommend developing at least 10 unique 400+ word articles. Much like SEO for your blog or website, you should optimize your site for social media. Remember that these Web 2.0 sites are crawled frequently by search engines. There’s a good chance your content on these pages will be initially be visited more often than the blog or website that you’re promoting. As you develop your unique content, always include links and RSS to your website. In some steps you will include links and RSS to some of the social media sites with which you have previously submitted content. Instead of simply promoting your home, main or index page, you should promote three different pages on your site and you should also promote your video on YouTube and your Squiddo pages. The reason you want to promote
these Web 2.0 sites, in addition to your website, is that these sites see more traffic and it may be easier to rank on one of the search engines for a target keyword.

Create A Short Video to promote your Link Bait Page and post it on video.yahoo.com. This video that relates or reviews the content of your link bait page. Keep the video to 2 – 3 minutes. Video sites are highly visited. People use video sites as “how to” sites. A short video can give viewers a quick “taste” of the resources available on your website. Your video could be a slide show where you speak of about main points on your resource page. Just remember, don’t make your video too long.

With all the written content you submit, make certain that you have the correct links. Also, it’s smart to ensure you include your links in the top portion of the content, before the fold. This ensures that when visitors look at your page with their browser and before they scroll down at all, the most important content, including the links that they see are above the fold.

Create A New Account At Squidoo.com – add different modules to your lens. Take your time when you build your lense. You’ll see that you can break up your content and really make it unique. You can even add video from one of the sites above where your video is hosted. Include on the Squidoo page the RSS feed from either your gather.com or hubpages page (discussed below) using the RSS module

Create a Blog At Blogger.com – make a couple of unique posts with a keyword link to your link bait page. Also include RSS from your website to ensure more quality content. If you have internet home business opportunity (seo web services), you can easily add more content.

Create An Account At MyBlogLog – If the site you are promoting is your own blog then you can submit it here. If not, then submit your Blogger.com, Wordpress.com and Yahoo blogs. I recommend you include the MyBlogLog code on your blog to allow for others who are familiar with this service to further explore the blogs you submit to this service. As with other social media sites and platforms, you’re trying to establish your expertise within a niche. If your content is good, your network or list will be curious to explore and recommend to others the links on your blogs.

Claim Your blog home page At Technorati.com – You should also claim your Blogger.com, WordPress.com blogs plus, promote your squiddo lense and hubpages post. This helps generate traffic to any of the sites where you are promoting yourself.

Create An Account With Google Notebook – Do NOT use your main Google account when you set up this account. Instead, create a new account. You’ll want to submit a full version of your content. I also recommend that you include an image of the product or niche you are promoting.

You can further increase your website traffic and enhance your home internet business by submitting links to many more Web 2.0 sites like Ma.gnolia, Bibsonomy and Del.icio.us. In order to offer your visitors outstanding resources, add RSS from other niche specific resources like Business Week, Travelocity or a healthy and fitness website. Of course, which RSS you include depends on your niche.

Though it takes some work, Web 2.0 sites are a great way to “kick start” your home internet based business opportunity. In order for your plan to really work, you must make a sincere effort to interact with your network. Social media is like a co-op. You’ll get what you put in to it and possibly more if you’re content and interaction are strong.

Read 15 Ways it Pays to Have a Website Making Money and Work From Home

Have you ever considered what it would be like to start a business from home, work for yourself, and leave the drudgery of being an employee behind? Would you like to start up a website making money, or have a successful online business? Or how about something offline where you are self-employed and make your own rules.

So what’s stopping you? Maybe you aren’t sure of what you want to do. There’s lots of ideas on the internet, just do a search for some. Maybe you can’t afford to just quit your job and startup a business. I wouldn’t recommend you do that anyway; instead try to start something on the side and work on it in your spare time until you get it going to where you can quit your job.

Or maybe you are afraid that it is just too expensive to start a business from home and work online or for yourself.

That’s why I’ve come up with a little list of 15 ways that it actually pays you to work for yourself. When you have a job and work for someone else, you have expenses that maybe you don’t even consider.

So, in no particular order, here are 15 ways you can save money by working for yourself:
1. Save money on work clothes – no more expensive suits, shoes, ties, pants, etc
2. Save money on lunches – if you spend just $5 a day for lunch out, that’s $100 per month you are spending.
3. Gas – how much do you spend commuting to work, or if you have a sales job, driving around all day?
4. Association fees – some jobs require their employees to maintain association memberships
5. Union dues – Same as # 4
6. Desk rental fees – Can you believe some jobs actually require their employees to pay for the privilege of having a desk at the office? Realtors, insurance agents to name a few.
7. Car maintenance – if your job requires a long commute, or a lot of miles on the road during the day, how much extra wear and tear is your car getting?
8. Lunches with clients – this will certainly cost you more than $5 a meal, and not everyone has a corporate expense account or gets reimbursed
9. Office gift giving – how many times have you had to pitch in to by the boss a gift, the secretary a gift, someone who is having a birthday a gift?
10. Pay yourself – how much more money could you make if you kept all the profits yourself? If you are in sales, you are making money for someone else when you could be keeping all the profits for yourself
11. Professional upkeep – for personal maintenance, things such as hair, nails, etc. Sure, those might be things you’d do anyway, but maybe not as often
12. Lost time during commutes – in some cities it is not uncommon for the average worker to commute 1-2 hours to work – one way! If you spent just 2 hours driving to work and back each day, that’s 40 hours in one month, or the equivalent of one full week of work! Know what, that’s time you lose and you don’t get paid for it. Do you think that’s worth something?
13. Cell phone bills – see #12 above…what are you doing during that long commute? Talking on the cell phone?
14. Overnight stays – some jobs keep you on the road, or require you to attend out of town training. Not all jobs reimburse for that as well.
15. And one of the biggest ways you can save money – tax write-offs! People who start a business and work for themselves have a load of deductions they can take on their taxes.

This is definitely not a complete list, but just a little something to get you thinking. There are ways you can start a website making money online for very little to no cost. There are low-cost franchises you can check into. You could even take a look at what it would take to do what you are doing right now, but as an independent contractor or out on your own.

The key is to start looking now. Put a plan together, work on it in your spare time and build it up to the day when you can finally have your business from home, really make money online and enjoy the rewards of being your own boss!

Need more money from your site – then learn how to get more website traffic.

Medela Pump In Style Breast Pump – A New Way To Feed Your Baby

Switzerland has given us many things such as the chronometers and the breast pump as well that many moms like to use for breast feeding. There are many moms who prefer the pumps that are from Medela because of their flawless design and construction, easy operation and easy cleaning too. Actually, you will rarely come across a brand that is more efficient than Medela. Naturally thus, the Medela Pump in Style has been in use not only by the moms, but also in various hospitals all over the world.

Actually the real reason why this pump has become so popular among both new moms and those who are experienced is the fact that it is super adaptable. In some cases twins are born and in these cases, breastfeeding the two together can become a real issue – the pump can help here.

But the people who are helped the most by these pumps are the moms who are working and needs to get back to work, thus leaving the baby behind for long hours. If there was no breast pump, then there would have been no other option but to depend on formula milk, but the fact is, breast milk is always better than formula milk products. The Medela Pump in Style is the answer the mom needs because finally the baby can be fed natural breast milk all the time, even by a caregiver. There is another advantage of this – the caregiver (who can be the dad or someone else from the family as well) can by feeding, bond with the new member of the family.

Nursing mothers usually love the Medela in Style Advanced Breast Pumps because of their portability and easy adaptability. Though these pumps are now available for any mom nursing her baby, but initially, they were meant just for hospitals. They allow moms to bring out the milk from the breast faster and this can be accounted to their dual pump control features. Moreover, Medela Electric Pumps using a twin-phase drawing technique literally mimics an infant’s natural suckling! And this Swiss technique is extremely innovative. In order to make matters seem more natural, the simulation process is able to fluctuate between heavy and light suckling to persuade better milk flow.

These breast pumps are extremely popular among the moms, but you might be glad to know that Medela offers many other accessories too for better milk storage and preservation and also for other on-the-go utilitarian processes. Moms who come from the US and from other countries too simply love the Medela breast pumps and the accessories as well. Many moms would rather have the Medela Pump in Style and nothing else.
