How to Overcome Jealousy

Deciding whether your fear is realistic is the following step after you admit you have a problem

If you already have an exclusive relationship and your jealousy is a problem, you have to work on yourself. If you end the relationship, you may still need to face your jealousy later.

Learn to Take Care of Yourself

If you struggle with jealousy your focus is totally on the opposite person. To prevent jealousy in its tracks you've got to find out to take care of yourself.

If you recognize you can take care of yourself, you will be better able to live with another person without jealousy. Focusing all your attention on negative fears makes them more likely to happen. Being too clingy can drive the other person far from you.

Change doesn’t happen overnight. Real modification takes lots of practice. Try some of the following tips and tricks:

•Take care of yourself. When your jealousy gets out of control, stop and do something for yourself. Do something you prefer to do but your partner doesn’t. Learn to enjoy your own company.

•Get out and exercise. Fear consists of energy Exercise uses up energy. Run or jog until you feel more calm. Endorphins are created by your body during exercise. Endorphins are the body’s way of calming you down naturally.
