There are different types of RC flying toys such as the remote control helicopters, remote control planes and the remote control jets, with each being able to achieve its own fast speeds. While these speeds differ in various remote control flying toys, RC Jets are generally regarded as the fastest RC planes, as some of these are able to achieve speeds of over 300 mph. Those who enjoy speed should always consult their RC toy salesman to find out just how fast their RC plane can go before they decide to buy it.
Below is a look at the world’s fastest RC plane as determined by the Guinness World Records in order to give you an inclination of the real meaning of speed.
According to the Guinness World Records, the fastest RC plane is the remote controlled jet powered model plane which was piloted by Alex Hache and David Shulman. The two pilots received their Guinness World Records certificate in Santo Domingo, Dominican republic on 26 January 2010. Guinness World Records adjudicator Carlos Martinez presented the certificate for their superfast remote control flying toy at the 2nd International Cup for Remote Control Jets that was held in Santo Domingo from 29-31 January 2010. The Guinness World Records awarded the certificate because it recognized the success of the two pilots in flying the radio controlled jet to a maximum speed of 542.64 km/h (293 knots or 337.18 mph).
The adjudicators had to take the speeds of both the downwind and upwind in order to eliminate any impact that wind and other contributing factors could have had on this record attempt. This attempt at the world record was made at the Hobbyland Airfield in Santo Domingo on 18 January, with the conventionally figured remote control jet. The turbine model aircraft – JMP Firebird with an AMT Netherlands Olympus HP was able to achieve the world record speed only after several flights.
Colin Nelsen loves playing with RC toys, having grown up with them. His favorite ones are the RC planes of which he has over 10 different models, and he enjoys racing alongside some of the RC planes.
