We still have a while before the new NFL season begins, but it is not late to start making your picks, specially if you are planning on taking some sports betting action in the odds to win the Super Bowl XLV or playing the NFL Team’s regular season wins. Anyhow, we will bring up some updates on your favorite teams.
It’s been a while since we last took a look at the Saints. They arrive to this tournament as the league’s defending champions, a feeling that is quite new for the franchise. Sure enough they proved quite brilliant in their 31-17 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV.
As of press time, the Saints ranks second among the favorites to win the tournament this upcoming year. Only the Indianapolis Colts hit the top-spot in the NFL betting odds. Most bookmakers and sports journalist alike would agree that the Minnesota Vikings, the Dallas Cowboys and the Baltimore Ravens would complete the top 5 spots.
Now, it is certainly going to be hard for the Saints to come back with such a magical and magnificent season this time around. Sure, they still have most of the team that took the team to one of the finest Cinderella stories the sport has seen in recent past. History and statistical records alike would tell you that the Saints probably will not make win the Vince Lombardi Trophy twice in a row. Still, they could give the surprise.
There are a couple of issues they have to sort out though. For instance, it would be nice to see an investment in finding an experienced substitute for the great Drew Brees in case he suffers and injury. Ok, even if you are not a Saint’s fan, just for the fun of it, let’s really hope that he stays healthy. It is still unofficial but it seems as if the franchise might just bring in some back up.
I guess they learned a lesson from the Colts who struggled when Peyton Manning could not deliver and Curtis Painter had to come in. So keeping that scenario in mind, they have started negotiations with the experienced Patrick Ramsey. I guess it will still bring on some time for Ramsey to get used to the extensive and somewhat complicated game plan that Saints head coach Sean Payton has prepared for this new season.
The Saints still have the talents of Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas on the offensive end of Brees aerial attacks. But Mike Bell might be seriously missed. He signed in with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he is expected to bring all the genius and complexity he gave the Saints during short yardage plays. The younger Lynell Hamilton might be the answer for the Saints. But it really depends on what he can prove during summer training.
Now, lets take a look at the numbers. As of press time, the Saints are the second most favorite team in the odds to win the XLV Super Bowl at the Cowboys Stadium in Texas. They Saints ML +700 are only slightly behind the Indianapolis Colts who lead the board at ML + 475. Now, for Regular Season Wins, the Saints have to either stay below or make it pass the 10½ under laying 125.
