How To Bring Out Your Feminine Side In Scrubs
By: Adam Anderson

In the history of the field of nursing, fashion has taken a turn towards that which provides comfort more than fashion sense. Just because you wear scrubs to work on a daily basis doesn’t mean that you cannot show off your feminine side while you’re at it. Scrubs dresses, although not worn often these days, are still around; and especially during warm summer months (or for the super feminine nurse); wearing a dress to work would be a nice treat.

Of all the nurse tips that float around, the way to dress for work can be number one on the list. You often spend up to 12 hours in work in a single day; so staying comfortable is definitely important. For some, a dress is quite comfortable and wearing a dress can make you feel very good about the way you look. And, another of my favorite nurse tips is that when you feel good, you are better at what you do. Nurses deal with many ups and downs on the job so it is important to take time to do the things that make you feel good inside. Yes, wearing a scrub dress can be the thing that brings a smile to your face.

Besides dresses at work, scrubs come in a wide array of colors and styles that can be more feminine than the standard, no style scrubs that hang on your body. Instead of sticking with this same old tried and true style, try wearing a mock wrap top if it suits your body type. Another of my favorite nurse tips: when you dress for body type, you look and feel better about your professional appearance.

To dress up your uniform can be easy even if regulations state a specific type of scrub uniform at work. Every nurse carries items that are necessary for a fully functional day on the job. Most carry their ID badge and keys either on a lanyard or badge reel. To raise the fashion bar for your work uniform, trade in the plain lanyard or badge holder for one that has style and panache with feminine beads. Some sites has accessorized many nurses, doctors and students with elegant or fun lanyards and ID badge holders.

One can find beaded lanyards and badge holders to wear on the job, to conferences, and even off the job! Because the styles range so widely, there is something for everyone – even the male nurse or doctor. Nurses and doctors can choose designs based on their personality and also based on the department in which they work. Some lanyards from different sites feature smiling faces; some feature pink ribbons. Some badge reels feature flowers and others are made with masculine metal details.

Even though you wear a uniform to work, there are ways to make sure you look and feel your best. When you dress for success, it doesn’t go unnoticed.
