Having a puppy at home is not that easy as most of the people may be thinking of. This will eventually require you your patience. As soon as you bring the puppy at home, start doing the housebreak. A little extra effort and patience in puppyhood will make the difference later on between a happy, cooperative pet and one that causes problems for you.
Puppies have a strong natural instinct to avoid soiling their own area. If you are consistent and patient, this natural urge for cleanliness makes house training fairly easy.
You could at least feed puppy three times a day.. They do not have same digestive rates. What you have to do is to avoid overloading them. Overloading will make them unable to control bowel movement or will find it hard to control it. Find a right schedule for them to eat so they can also have right time to have bowel movement. Most often, the dog do it bowel movement few minutes after eating.
You can also take your puppy outside; it could be after waking up, even from a nap or after extreme excitement. It could also be after drinking water. He’ll be sniffing around and looking for right place for him to do his thing.
Be consistent. If you feed and walk your puppy early one day, you should do so every day. By developing a routine for your dog to follow, you are teaching him or her to expect exercise and food at certain times of the day when you are prepared to provide them.
Keep in mind that puppies have accidents! If your puppy has a messy mistake, instead of scolding him or her, remain calm and assertive while teaching your puppy the “right way.” For example, if you catch your puppy in mid-act in your home, simply distract him with a light touch or sound, pick him up and take him outdoors immediately. If you’re frustrated or stressed, dogs can certainly sense the negative energy, which could possibly lead to instability and behavioral problems.
But keep in mind: Every dog is different. The amount of time it takes will also depend on you, the owner, and your level of commitment and consistency. “An attentive owner who sets boundaries and limitations, and utilizes tools like crates, baby gates and pee pads, should be able to accomplish this in less than a couple of weeks.
