What If Someone Told You That Omega 3 Could Help Your Child Do Better In School
By: Sandy Sachs

Who doesn’t want their child to be a genius? I am not saying that omega 3 will do that, but it is very vital for the development of brain. It is possible that under dosage of omega 3 in the diet of a child, they could develop attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder or ADHD. We have all heard of children being on medicine for that disorder. Most of them look like zombies. I would rather deal with their being overly active then that.

Low levels of omega 3 in the diet has been linked with ADHD in the children. Deficiency of omega 3 could lead to temper tantrums, and disturbed sleep. Without proper sleep and attention span, it is difficult for your child to learn.

If the children are given omega 3 in their diet, their minds become sharper, and learning becomes easier. They perform better in the class tests. They become more alert.

Salmon is the best food source for getting enough omega 3 in their diet, but very few children like eating salmon.

Peanut butter is another source of omega 3, which your children can consume. So don't get fed up if your children ask for jelly sandwiches and peanut butter for lunch daily. Peanuts, other nuts and beans contain omega 3. If you give your child peanut butter sandwich for lunch, it will help them feel more energetic and raise their ability to learn during the afternoon hours. Plus just 2 tablespoons of peanut butter contains 2.9 mg of vitamin E. A child needs 4 to 10 Mg’s a day of vitamin E.

Oat meal, milk products, lean beef, green vegetables, whole grains and berries if added to a child's diet help to make him grow up smart. These foods help to stimulate the child's brain and help them to concentrate better.

You should never over do the good things. Giving too much omega 3 to your child a day could cause adverse results. You want to be sure to give them the proper dosage for their age and weight if using supplements. If eating fish, 100 grams of salmon has 2.2 grams of omega 3 in it. A child needs just 1.2 grams a day.

Your child can benefit a lot, if omega 3 is added to his diet. By adding omega 3 to your child’s diet, you are starting them off on a healthy habit for life.
