Sweet Slumber For Baby And Me

The clock on the dresser says 3:42am. Your newborn is awake again after falling asleep less than an hour ago. Who's turn is it to get up? Yours? Your partner? Amidst the confusion you manage to pull yourself from the warm embrace of your bed. Comforting and soothing your infant. No sleep for you again tonight . Does this scenario sound familiar to you? It should if you fall within the 86% of parents whose infants and toddlers do not sleep through the night. Your child waking up is quite a common occurrence. However this can become added stress. For even the most seasoned parent. Lack of sleep can lead to depression. Affecting other aspects of your life.
Discussing this issue with your child's pediatrician should be your first step towards getting your child to sleep through the night.They will be able to tell you different techniques to help with setting a good sleep pattern. There are also thing that you can try on your own that may help.
Place a dim light in your child's room. Some infants sleep better with a low light on. Instead of total darkness. Giving your baby a warm bath before bedtime can be helpful in calming them. Use a lavender baby wash. The added aromatherapy will not only relax your child, but you as well. Playing a classical music CD helps to create a calming ambiance in the room.
Finally don't overlook yourself. If your frustrated and stressed, your baby will sense this. Find the time for some relaxation for yourself. Twenty minutes in a bubble bath can do wonders for you.
No matter how frustrating things may seem right now. You will be able to sleep through the night again. Then you will look back on this chapter of your life and say "Gosh, I miss those days."
