Connecting Your Business To Your Audience
By: Sean Milea

One way of standing apart from the crowd is proper use of branding. This can be accomplished with advertising, signs, contemporary imaging, web branding, or even simply having a catchy name. If you fail to generate buzz in the short term, consider creating some press releases. What follows are methods of using press releases to increase your visibility and credibility:

Initially, you should briefly describe the press release. As if you are writing a news article, you provide all the most interesting details in the first paragraph. It will make your readers want to read further and explore other information that will satisfy their new curiosity.

You must know and understand your audience. The viewers must not only read, but truly comprehend the value of your press releases. It might be beneficial if you have a preexisting relationship with the audience for whom you are creating the work. You can then write the release as if it were specifically for that group, tailoring the language and level of formalism to those individuals.

Center your attention on the very beginning of what you have to say. People don't stay alert for long. They hate to listen to things that bore them, so you must be sure that the very beginning of what you write draws them in and captures their interest.

You should mention only facts in writing. You should remember that you are building an image by your press releases. You do not have to tell lies or give false or misleading information about your business. Write press releases which people believe. Use testimonials and recent studies to prove your claims.

Always make sure to include your complete contact information. This would include your company's physical address, a contact e-mail, and various telephone numbers. The main point of a press release is to spark your reader's attention and entice them to seek more information.

You should only write something if it is worth discussing. Do not exaggerate an otherwise normal situation to the effect of making a press release for your company. The news should be substantial enough to require attention from your audience.
