Real ID - Great Idea Or Bad Idea?
By: Sandy Smith

Real ID Act of 2005 is proposed to attack terrorism, ID theft, and other crimes by strengthening the defenses of government-issued ID cards. The act requires on states to put into action a set of bare minimum national standards in many areas:. Information and security features that must be included in each card. Proof of identity, DOB, social security number, lawful citizenship, and primary home address. Verification of the source credentials provided by each of us.

The statute demands everybody desiring to go in a Federal structure, fly on an airplane or open a financial account to have the nationally recognized Real ID or a passport. It would also put every identity holder in a central database. Sounds good, but the reality is that the Real ID destroys on our privacy and invites thieves to steal personal details without making the US more safe from terrorism or deterring illegal immigration.

Unfortunately, Real ID is a disaster waiting to take place. Some have even said that it is a sign of the apocalypse. The original estimated expenditure was fifteen billion dollars, it's been "condensed" to on the order of $4 billion (nothing for Big Brother's budget) by giving state governments greater flexibility in issuing licenses to older citizens.

The REAL ID Act of 2005 is a U.S. national law that imposes a selection of standards for the state driver's licenses, to be used by the federal government for "official purposes".

What can you do? It's too late to foil Real ID, now you must shield yourself. The Official ID site tells you additional ideas, at officialid.info. Want substantiation of what's going to happen?
