It’s a little harder to help teenagers facing anxiety, as taking something for the anxiety is problematic. For serious anxiety, a prescription may be useful, but there are many drawbacks. One of them is that it can be detrimental to a good score, as it can make the mind fuzzy.
There has to be something, most students think, and there are a few things. As with any test, preparation is key. Find out what’s expected of you. Some of these tests don’t penalize you for not answering a question, but will do so if you try it and get it wrong. Know which is which.
Most schools offer tutoring services for students getting ready these tests. To be fair to the tutor, you should start preparing well in advance of the test date. Days and weeks may not be enough, months may be required to fully prepare. The tutor can best advise you as to how long you will need. If your school doesn’t there are organizations and companies that can help you.
On the day before the test, make sure to eat properly and go to bed at a decent hour. Adequate sleep will go a long way towards helping you do a good job on the test. The morning of the test, eat a good, healthy breakfast. This will support blood sugar levels, which will help you think properly.
There is usually at least one break in the testing. You may want to bring a snack and a bottle of water for that break. This, too, will help keep blood sugar levels at proper levels.
There are times when some herbal support may be needed. This is not something a teenager should decide alone. Your parents should be in on the decision, because improperly using them could alter test results just as much as improper eating and lack of sleep.
For this, I would suggest very mild herbs. Catnip, chamomile and lavender are the best choices, but should not be used on test day. A cup before bed the day before may be beneficial, and lavender aromatherapy can be used both the day before and on test day.
These tests are important to your future. A little prep work on your part can help you get good results.
