Without doubt, toys play an important role of developing children’s intelligence in their early stage. Therefore many parents buy different types of toys, especially educational toys, for their kids in order to make them have higher intelligence quotient and achievement in the future. What I want to emphasize, which is also ignored by many parents in daily life, is that children have their own way to understand the world. Different with adults to know the world with rational thinking ability, little kids always understand the world with their subjective instinct and limited experience. What’s more, some organs of kids are not developed completely, they have significant difference characteristic on knowing the world with adults. For example, the newly-born infants can’t distinguish colors such as red, green, black, white color and so on. It is normal. What’s more, some kids with weak intelligence still can’t distinguish colors until they are two years old. Bases on these cases, we can know that we should consider children’s psychological characteristics when buying toys for them. We must pay more attention on toys’ colors, shapes and function. As for kids with weak intelligence, before buying toys for them, we’d better take them to do intelligence quotient examination or consult a psychologist so that we can know their special cognitive competence development.
Currently, there are too many types of toys in the market. However, these different toys can be classified into seven categories, which are intellectual toys, electric toys, plastic toys and models, weapons toys such as gun toys, folk toys, musical toys and vehicle toys. When buying toys for the first time, you should choose simple and audio-visual toys which can be controlled. In other cases, you can choose plastic model toys such as famous figure, animal figure, plants figure and so on for mentally handicapped children to distinguish. What’s more, you can buy some daily life models to offer educational opportunity for kids. Afterwards, with the development of children's intelligence, you can choose some educational toys to stimulate children’s curiosity and imagination. For kids with older age, you can choose some electric toys and music toys such as automobiles, aircraft, ships and small wooden boat and piano so as to increase children’s interest in things around them, which can enhance their memory.
