Deciding on a career is one of the hardest and most important things you will ever do. It’s not like you can’t change careers later on, but starting off in the right direction is important to keep your momentum up. A career is indeed not something you devote to a single company as you might have done in the past, far from it, now a career is more a path which you take yourself down that has goals and a theme but no direct route.
One of the best ways to decide on what to do is to pick your theme. This might be something practical like building or carpentry, or perhaps something like a broad subject like chemistry or medicine, or maybe you want to work outdoors or in space?
Caring Theme
One of the most common themes people choose for their career is anything as long as they can care for other people. Here are some of the best jobs you can do if this is the sort of career you want to have:
Vet
There is nothing more helpless than a wounded and defenceless animal. What better way to pursue your desire to care for others than to dedicate your life to sticking your hand up cow’s behinds, fixing broken donkey legs, helping dogs to regain their sense of smell and putting gorillas to sleep.
Doctor
Fixing a broken heart is literally what some doctors do and what better way to care for someone than to do that for a living. Doctors have so many roles but are always working towards making people feel better in some way or another.
Teacher
While many teachers will not feel very caring towards their pupils, if they really think about it they do the job because they care about children and teenagers education. They want the world to be a better place so want to work to ensure that future generations are better educated.
Nurse
Nurses are the backbone of the healthcare system in the UK and in particular those in NHS nursing jobs. They do all the caring that doctors don’t have time to do, while also providing constant monitoring and emotional support to patients in all areas of medical care. Even at the dentist in dental nurse jobs!
Prison Officer
While a lot of the job is spent making sure that prisoners don’t escape, the rest of the job is basically caring for them by making sure they don’t hurt themselves or each other.
