Lost Your Car Keys? Don't Panic Just Yet!
By: Huey Davis

So you lost your car keys and now you can't get in your car? We've all been there at one point, or if we haven't, then Murphy's law tells us that it will happen - probably at the worst imaginable time! Like for example you are miles from home with no spare key and you really have to be in a meeting, or you just stopped by a convenience store to pick up some groceries, but you really don't want to walk home in THAT neighborhood!

There are a few ways to make sure that scenario is not going to happen for you and there are ways to get back in your car if you did lock yourself out.

The simplest method of preventing lock-outs is simply to carry a spare key on your person, not in your handbag, not in your glove box, but actually on your person. This can be easier said than done of course, particularly for women, where different clothing may not exactly be a good fit for that. There are ways to get around it, for example by wearing a key chain around your neck, but that's hardly comfortable. Wearing a hard, sharp object like that may even scratch or injure you if you fall, so let's count that out for the moment.

Now, the second option is to actually learn how to pick your car lock. Picking locks is actually not as difficult as you may think, criminals are usually not that smart and they do it all the time. It only works on older locks though. Modern locks are much more advanced and almost impossible to pick. However, if you do have an older car model, then it's certainly doable. What you need is a tension wrench and a long, flat opbject such as a screwdriver. You may also want to pick up a lockpicking guide. Just keep in mind, that lockpicking is a bit of a suspicious activity and you may find yourself talking to the police sooner rather than later.

If none of the above suggestions seem attractive, then just call a car locksmith. Just like with regular locksmiths, a car locksmith is a professional that can open any lock and create temporary keys. Car locksmiths also have 24 hour services for the most part. They can also usually handle modern transponder keys.

Omega Locksmith is a Chicago car locksmith that can help if you lost your car keys. Get fast service now, visit www.omegalocksmith.com/services.html
