As soon as you have produced your monocrystalline solar panels. We then design a system to make best use of the solar power they produce. There are a number of ways of doing this. We can use a battery, push the electricity back to the national grid, or we can power our homes..
Mobile Solar Powered Systems
This is the simplest of all the systems. All you need is an inverter, charge controller, a battery and your PV solar panel.
Remember that as you make or purchase additional solar panels, these can be added to the system at a later date. Solar panels supply electricity as Direct Current. Your appliances use an Alternating Current, so the inverter converts DC to AC.
If you find yourself in the enviable position of having excess electricity, instead of wasting it, you can feed it to a battery bank. These aren't ordinary batteries so make sure you source the correct ones.
On-Grid Solar Power Generator
If you currently have your electricity supplied by a utility company then give this type of setup very close consideration. What you do is not waste time with batteries, you can send the extra power straight back to the grid. This has the effect of reversing your meter and so your electric utility supplier will credit you on your bill.
After you have built a couple of solar panels, you will appreciate how easy they are to make. It takes less than a day to manufacture a solar PV panel and in one year you can easily make 26 of them. You will be sending so much electricity back to the grid, that you can make a nice little income on-the-side to supplement all your other household bills.
Add a Battery Bank to Your Grid-Tied System
To cover all basis you may want a battery backup system integrated with you grid tied solar system. For example, if it is a cloudy day and you are using some DIY tools which demand a lot of electricity. The battery bank is a passive supply of electricity, which has been previously charged up with any unused electricity generated over the past couple of days.
Generate Solar Power With Off-Grid Homes
If you live in part of the world where you have no direct electricity to your home then having a battery bank may prove very beneficial. The battery bank will ensure you have the most effective system as it will store the unused power.
Batteries perform better when they are warm so it is wise to invest in a battery box and keep them in your garage. A battery box also doubles up as offering a safety feature, so kids or animals don't get to close. Your dog would get a real shock if he decided to relieve himself up against a battery bank!
You may already have a generator to power your home. If you do, I suggest you connect this to your system as well, it can charge your batteries should they start to go flat.
