You might have one before. A cooler that doubles as a timer of which you have to arrive at the destination sooner before the contents turn warm. Is there any cooler that works great and keeps your drinks cold when you need it? Shouldn't it maintain temperature below the ambient?
Maybe you have model in mind but still doubt if it is the right choice or not. Good news. Nowadays a cooler doesn't do more, but it has been improved quite a bit over the years.
How about the design and functionality? I hear you ask. Well, suffices it to say that as expectation grows, some of the popular products are able to keep up and offer much more features and benefits the consumers.
The design of modern cooler allows you to place it horizontally or vertically, like a mini refrigerator. A 12-volt cigarette lighter is able to provide enough power for the cooler to work well. An adapter can convert power from wall outlet suitable for the cooler.
How about size? Well, there are small and lightweight coolers, if those are what you want. A large unit is able to store more than six dozens of soft drink cans. That should be enough for everybody.
Now, not everyone likes cold beverages. Many people prefer hot chocolate or tea. Or they want to keep fast food warm. Perhaps the name is not as appropriate but some units are actually both coolers and warmers. Just reverse the power cord as instructed to reverse the function of the cooler to a warmer.
Before deciding on a certain model, type and dimension of a cooler, make sure you are clear about your purpose. Perhaps you want to avoid standing in line to buy overpriced ice. Small cooler is portable and lightweight, but it should have ample of room for your contents. There is no point of having a cooler but you still need to make a stop to get more cans for everybody.
Last but not least, if to take the space of the vehicle into account. Larger cooler is suitable for van but not for most cars. You can't open the lid completely while in the car. Not to mention the weight. It takes two persons to carry the cooler with contents loaded. But sure it is convenient.
