• Stimulants. These are the most common type of medications used for treating ADHD. • Non-stimulant medications for ADHD and ADD. These medications are usually used when the stimulants used for ADHD treatment do not work or have brought about the onset of many serious side effects. Non-stimulant medications include the drug Strattera, which is thought to boost the levels of norepinephrine in the brain.
All prescription drugs used for ADHD treatment may bring dangerous side effects to the child. Therefore, it is best to keep close contact with the doctor and follow the doctor’s advice on dosage and time of medication. If anything goes wrong with the medication, inform the doctor immediately so the medication may be changed.
