How To Learn Arabic On Your Own
By: Jim Henderson

Learning Arabic is very popular these days. It's amazing how many college students around the country are studying this difficult language. And they're smart to do so, because there's a real demand for Westerners who can speak Arabic. That demand comes from a variety of fields, including business, journalism, finance, education, and even intelligence.

In today's world, it can be very valuable to learn even a little Arabic. Most people don't have the slightest clue about anything to do with this difficult language. That's a shame, because the Arabic language is the fifth most spoken language in the world. And the Arabic alphabet is the second-most used alphabet in the world!

But Arabic is not an easy language to learn. Its alphabet is totally different from ours. And to make things even harder, the words are read right to left, like Hebrew. Learning Arabic is a whole different ballgame than learning most languages.

The good news is that there's never been a better time to learn a difficult language. That's because computers and the internet have made studying languages much easier than ever before. People used to study textbooks, or listen to foreign-language CDs and audiotapes, but those are one-dimensional. A good foreign-language software program lets you hear, speak, and read the language in an interactive environment.

Many foreign-language software packages use a variety of games to make learning vocabulary and grammar much more fun and involving. These games can be reading games, listening games, or visual games. They're very effective at teaching younger students who are used to learning from interactive games.

There are even some programs that include a membership in an online learning environment, which might include forums for other students like yourself. You no longer have to feel totally isolated. This can make a big difference, especially because motivation is such a big factor when studying a language on your own.

So if you have any inclination to learn Arabic, definitely look into purchasing some software. My advice, though, is to avoid the most popular brands of software, simply because they're wildly overpriced. There are other programs out there that do exactly what the expensive programs do at a fraction of the cost. I'd definitely check those out first.

Find out which Arabic language software packages offer the best value at Arabic Phrases.
