Many factors go into the final decision on who is awarded the scholarship money, but a great deal of weight is placed on an essay of no more than 500 words that demonstrates an interest in and knowledge of the Right to Work principle as it applies to educators. The scholarship money is also awarded to students who show potential to successfully complete a college-level education program.
The NILRR Applegate Jackson Parks Future Teacher Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship that current or incoming undergrad and grad students in education majors may apply for between October 1 and December 15 of this year. Qualifying graduate and undergraduate students must be attending accredited institutions of higher learning within the United States. Any officers, directors, employees and family members of officers, directors and employees of the National Institute for Labor Relations Research, the National Right to Work Committee, as well as members of the related Selection Review Committee, are not eligible to apply for this award.
