This type of treatment would involve you as the patient being able to change the way that you perceive yourself. You are an individual who can control your mind and body. You should not relinquish total control to these attacks. Do not consider these attacks to be some type of life form that has taken control of your mind and body; and you are powerless to do anything about it.
You should also employ strategies around relaxation and breathing exercises. Consider meditation or yoga to help relax your mind and body. Read a comforting book, or listen to soothing classical music. You should also consider getting involved with an activity, (or hobby) that will focus your mind on something other than the negative thoughts swirling around inside your head as of late.
Consider getting involved in a physical fitness regimen, as well as making changes to your diet. Your cardiovascular system is benefited as you work up a sweat 4-5 times per week: be it walking, jogging, riding a bicycle, or lifting weights down at the gym. Physical exercise has also been proven to help release endorphins, (or toxic chemicals) out of your system, lowering your level of stress.
In your diet, eliminate the caffeine and alcohol found in your drinks. You should also seriously consider lowering the amount of high fat, sugar, sodium and cholesterol in your foods. All of these ingredients have been proven to do not only cause eventual damage to various organs in your body; but they do nothing but raise the level of stress and anxiety within your being.
Various modifications involving an exercise program, diet change, and calming techniques; all in accordance with behavior therapy have been proven to be successful in helping people to cure panic attacks.
