Although anxiety medication and antidepressants are often marketed as cures for panic attacks, research disapproves their effectiveness. The most frequently prescribed class of medications for anxiety disorders are the SSRI antidepressants and benzodiazepines. Generally, patients may find that antidepressants require time to work.

Generally, natural remedies are safer in comparison to anxiety medication but may not be as effective. Regardless, neither forms of ingested medicines are not effective long term cures for panic attacks. They should be thought of as aids since they often fail to cure a patient.

It is best to see a physician or mental health professional to decide how to treat you anxiety disorder. Women expecting a baby should avoid taking certain medications. However, long-term success depends on proper maintenance of stress and anxiety. There is a danger however of slipping back into old patterns of behavior that re-establish an anxiety disorder.

Maintaining health and taking care of one's physical and mental wellbeing can reduce the chances of diseases and disorders. Instead of relying on cures for panic attacks it's important to realize that we have control over our emotions and behaviors. Change comes from wanting to change no matter the cost. Behavioral therapy isn't an instant cure, since sessions may last for months depending on the person. In addition patients should pay careful attention to signs of stress levels and avoid certain habits and substances to reduce panic attacks.
