In every bloggers life comes a special day - the day they first launch a new Blog. Now unless you went out and purchased someone else's blog chances are your blog launched with only one very loyal reader - You. You may get a visit from a few friends, maybe a family member or two, but don't expect much more off the start.
9 Tricks to Build your Reader Base
For best results, go through this list from top to bottom. In time, you should attract enough readers that you no longer need to work on getting more (this is around 500 readers), instead, your existing readers will spread the word for you.
9.Write at least five major "pillar" articles. A pillar article is longer and more detailed than typical articles, it is more than 500 words and generally give valuable instruction style information. Producing daily posts is particularly important when your blog is just starting. Once you have a decent reader base, you still must keep your content updating and fresh. It's the initial first few months that are key, you want to produce plenty of content to optimize your results.
7. Create a memorable domain name. Developing a good "Brand" for your web blog is key to being remembered and easily shared with others. {People often talk about blogs they like when they are speaking to friends in the real world so you need to make it easy for them to spread the word.
6. Get Involved in the Internet community and visit and contribute to related blogs and forums. Commenting on other blogs and forums is one of the best ways to attract readers. You should aim to comment on blogs focused on a similar niche topic to yours since the readers there will be more likely to be interested in your blog.
5. Trackback and link to other blogs in your blog posts. {A trackback is sort of like a blog conversation. When you write a new article to your blog and it links or references another blogger's article you can do a trackback to their entry. What this does is leave a truncated summary of your blog post on their blog entry - it's sort of like your blog telling someone else's blog that you wrote an article mentioning them. Trackbacks often appear like comments.
4. Encourage comments on your own blog. Comments on your blog posts tells new readers that previous readers enjoyed the read enough that they well compelled to say something. This helps to compel new readers to read your post too. Closing your post with a question or request for reader input is a good way to get comments. Be sure to respond to comments as well.
3 Submit one of your pillar articles to a blog carnival} A blog carnival is a post that links to a list of related blogs, with the intention being to aggregate content for readers. Many bloggers link to carnival blogs, because it helps their ranking and generally results in an increase in readers.

2. Submit your articles to EzineArticles.com and other article directories. This is another tip that doesn't bring in hundreds of new visitors immediately (although it can if you keep doing it) but it's worthwhile because you simply leverage what you already have.
