2009 Ford Focus Sedan
By: Pindos Mulleri

Most of us are familiar with the budget-friendly Ford Focus. It’s been on the American automotive scene for nearly a decade. We’ll get to the refresher course below on why the Focus is still a big seller, but first is what makes it better for 2009.

New for 2009
Especially appealing if your taste exceeds your take-home, the 2009 Ford Focus five-seat sedan gets additional luxury with a new SEL model. It includes heated chrome mirrors and door handles, heated, leather-trimmed seats, plus SYNC—Ford’s voice-activated mobile phone and digital music system developed in cahoots with Microsoft. 2009 Focus sedan SEL models also get 16-inch alloy wheels. SES models get the option to upgrade to 17-inch wheels, plus new suspension tuning. Also new for all 2009 Focus models, coupe and sedan, is the availability of Ford’s AdvanceTrac Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system.

Powertrain, Mileage, and Trims
Besides the new SEL trim, the 2009 Ford Focus sedan is available in S, SE, and SES levels. The base S model starts at $14,995 and sits on 15-inch wheels and gets a single-disc CD player with AM/FM radio and MP3 capability. Focus SE sedans start at $16,180 and add to the S model basics with SIRIUS Satellite Radio, power windows, locks and keyless entry. Stepping up to the Focus SES adds (to SE-model basics) Ford’s SYNC Communications System and Ambient Lighting. SES pricing starts at $17,570. The new top-of-the-line SEL model starts at $17,970. It gets the basic features from the SES package and adds the heated, leather-trimmed seating, 16-inch “Euroflanged” alloy wheels, and the chrome mirror and door-handle treatment.

All Ford Focus models are powered by 2.0-liter DOHC I-4 engine. An available option in California and in other designated Green States, with similar emissions requirements, this engine is certified as a Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV). It produces low emissions and 132 hp. When mated to the optional four-speed automatic, Focus Sedans get 24/33 mpg, city/highway fuel economy ratings. When matched with the standard five-speed manual, that mileage increases to 35 mpg when driving on the open road.

Safety and Honors
One of the reasons for the long-standing success of the Ford Focus is its reputation of value, fuel economy and fun-to-drive factors. J.D. Power and Associates recently called the Focus the most improved model in the industry, thanks to an 88 index-point increase seen in their 2008 Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) Study. APEAL assesses owner satisfaction with style, content, layout and performance after three months

I hope to do a good Ford Focus 2009 review. Firstly, I genuinely believe that Ford Focus 2009 is the most popular car on the roads of Britain! Its a great car….not the most beautiful creature on the road but great for its price. I take pride in driving my Ford Focus!
