Where Do You Get The Lowest Prices On A Used Car?
By: Terry Carters

Low prices on a used car seem to be very popular now-a-days due to the financial crises and the economic conditions it has created.Since the crack in the market this autumn 2008, we have observed an increase in the number of people searching for cheap used cars, even as low as $500.

What happens is, people simply lack money because of unemployment, lower wages or whatever reason but most of them have debt that has to be paid down. Thus they are forced to get money fast and if they have a car, they sell it cheap to get the money as fast as possible.

And other cash strapped people buy it very cheap. It goes without saying that vehicles at a price like this are not typically this year's models but cars that you can be pretty sure are functioning properly.

Now I'm gonna show you three sources where you can get good cars dirt cheap.

Government Vehicle Auctions

Government auto auctions are probably the places where you most likely will find dirt cheap cars right now. Even though you may not be able to spot it the very first time you enter a car auction, you can rest assure that you will find a fully functional vehicle for as low as $500 or less pretty fast.

Auto Auction Sites

The simplest and easiest way to get the lowest prices on a used car is probably auto auction websites. It is convenient to buy a car from the comfort of your home. eBay is the biggest and most well known of these sites, however, there are lots of sites that have specialized in various niches such as car auction sites. The top vehicle auction sites are serious and safe; they are updated daily and show you any kind of car auctions all over the country, both auctions you have to attend physically as well as auctions where you can bid on online.

All you have to do is go to the eBay auction site and enter 'cars' or 'autos' or 'vehicles' and the amount you want to spend and within seconds you'll have a list of cars you can choose from. If you don't want to use eBay you can just type in 'cars' plus the amount, for example 'for under $600' and you will get a list of other sites that can offer you vehicles for that price.

Classified Ads

Penny Saver, Craigslist and other classifieds is another great source of dirt cheap automobiles. Online classifieds are great to start with because it's simple and convenient and doesn't cost you a nickel. As soon as you find a cheap used car that you want, contact the owner and make an offer. Await their answer. Buying dirt cheap vehicles from people in a desperate need for cash means you have to be on the alert. It's not uncommon that the owner is removing certain parts from the vehicle that is difficult for the buyer to see, especially when it is purchased online. The best way to protect yourself against such frauds is to have a sales form containing all the appropriate terms of contract and signed by the seller and yourself.

Don't forget the local newspaper and their classified section; you can find many cheap used cars there. As already mentioned you should get a contract or bill of sale printable form that both you and the seller sign. Follow the rules which are the same whether you purchase online or off line with the lowest prices on a used car there is.

Of course you can purchase your vehicle via used auto dealers. Before you do this, I strongly recommend that you check out cheap used cars first. The trip to your dealer might not be necessary.
