Different Kinds Of Gaskets
By: Vikas Kapila

The gasket is referred to a mechanical seal that is used for filling the space which is present between the two or more surfaces of mating. This is done in order to prevent the leaking that takes place from the objects that have been joined together by the process of compression. These gaskets let a less than perfect mating surfaces on the parts of the machines which can be filled using irregularities. The gaskets are generally made using the process of cutting the sheet materials like gasket paper, silicone, metal, nitrile rubber, fibreglass, felt, neoprene, etc.

The gaskets have set applications like the high pressure steam systems that might contain asbestos in it, but because of the health hazards which are linked to the exposure to asbestos, there are non-asbestos materials which are used when it is practically possible. It is generally expected for a gasket to be made from the materials which can provide a yielding to some degree so that the gasket can be easily deformed and it can tightly be filled into the space for which it has been specifically made inclusive of some irregularities that might be present. Some of the gaskets need a sealant that has to be applied to the surface of the gasket so that it can function properly.
The piping gaskets are generally made of metal and they depend on the seating surface to hold out on the seal and the spring characteristics of the metal can be utilized. The industrial cut gaskets are customized as per the needs and the specifications of the clients, we take the requirements of the clients as per the drawing standard depending in the ASA, DIN, BS, etc. The clients can also give us the exact specifications of the sample, drawings, size and the other required materials like graphoil ring gaskets, vegetable fiber, felt, cork which are used for making gaskets.
The Expanded PTFE gaskets have the salient features which have a good flexibility, they can seal the uneven damaged flanges and they have the ability to resist all the different types of chemicals. The Graphoil Ring Gaskets are considered the most flexible types of gaskets for the flanges and they have the capacity to tolerate highest pressure and temperatures. These gaskets are manufactured using 100% graphite that does not have any binder or fillers. They are used for the process of cathodes protection systems.
