Celebrity Trend Setting
By: Steven Sumner

I did a bit more digging into Lady Gaga and her fantabulous sense of, um, fashion. What did I discover? She's a trendsetter! Well, OK, I've known for a while that she sets fashion trends among the fashion elite but did you know she is setting trends all over the world of eyeglasses? She has frames that look like 3-D glasses. She wore frames that have small gold chains attached to the rim so it looks like window coverings. She has the most unconventional sunglasses in existence.

Elton John should be proud. He influenced someone where prescription glasses are concerned. In all honesty, Mizz Beyoncé should be included in this category as well. Just like Lady Gaga, Beyoncé experimented with her look this year and wore glasses similar to the chain frames worn by Lady Gaga. Lady B is a trend setter in her own right. Her look can go from 1960's diva to couture queen all with the switch of her frames. Lady Gaga's look goes from one extreme to the next.

These two fine young ladies got me thinking - what do we have in our own catalog that would resemble a unique look. What kind of glasses online do we have to copy their looks? Well, if you liked Lady Gaga's sunglasses at the end of her Paparazzi video, you'll probably like our Skylar frames. Just add a gray tint to the lenses and it's a great replication! Like her frames from Bad Romance? Try on our Yoshi Ayaka 3079 frames in black or tortoise shell. The large frame is a throw back to the 1980's and looks really cool with either gray or brown tinting.

If you like Beyoncé's 'normal' sunglasses, look no further than the Yoshi Ayaka 3060. They're very similar to Miss B's 'ordinary' sunglasses but look way cooler than most standard glasses. For a truly unique look, add a fashion tint like pink or orange - but don't skip the ultra violet protection.

Beyoncé is often seen wearing awesome aviator sunglasses. To replicate her look, try out our Marvin metal frame - which is larger in size for a badass look. For smaller frames, try the Brutus or Lewis frames which are similar to the Marvin frame but great for smaller faces. For a richer, more unique play on the aviator style, try our Maurice 2070 gold metal colored frames that have black plastic arms for a drastic effect.

One of my favorite Beyoncé looks in eye wear are her larger than life black plastic bug-like sunglasses. They're very chic and very 1960's. To copy her look, look at our Congress black plastic frame and add a gray tint or gray polarized lenses for a chic, Parisian look.

These ladies may be trend setters but their trends shouldn't cost a fortune or be hard to find. Create a trend of your own or personalize their trends!
