Lose Weight The Natural Way - 11 Tips For Easy Slimming

When you decide that it is time to shed some pounds it makes more sense to lose weight the natural way rather than opting for the latest fad diet trend which is destined for failure.

Here are some easy slimming tips that will help you to lose weight the natural way:

1. Eat enough calories, but not too many. If you have too few, your body will go into starvation mode and your metabolism will slow down so that you will not burn off so many calories. Maintain a balance between your calorie intake and calorie expenditure – in other words do not eat more food than your body uses.

2. Try and cut your portion sizes. Use a smaller plate and keep high calorie foods to a minimum. Most of us eat far more than we really need.

3. Eat a wide variety of foods. Try some new foods, particularly fruits, vegetables and whole-grains.

4. Limit sugary foods, refined foods and salt. Be aware of hidden sugars in foods and try and substitute refined carbohydrates for whole grains. One can of soda contains 160 calories and can increase your weight by 16 pounds if you drink just one can a day.

5. Drink more water. Water helps to flush out your system, especially the kidneys and bladder and will help to rid your body of waste products and toxins.

6. Take time to chew your food. Savour every bite, make every mouthful count and focus on the taste, texture and smell of the food – reconnect with the joy of eating. Once you have swallowed it, the sensations end.

7. Listen to your body. Are you really hungry? You may just be thirsty, so have a drink of water first. During a meal, stop eating before you feel full, it takes your brain about 30 minutes to tell your body that it has had enough. Eating just enough to satisfy your hunger will help you feel relaxed and alert rather than overstuffed.

8. Avoid stress while eating. Your digestion will be compromised if you are stressed, this could lead to indigestion, heartburn or colitis.

9. Eat regularly. Eat small, healthy meals at regular intervals throughout the day, starting with breakfast. This will keep your metabolism going and keep your blood sugar levels stable so that you are not tempted to reach for an unhealthy snack.

10. Get moving. Increase your activity levels. Take the stairs instead of the lift, go for a walk in your lunch break or walk to work. Go for a swim or join an exercise class. You will be amazed at how much better you will feel when your healthy eating plan is enhanced by some extra activity.

11. Do not cut out everything you enjoy. Just make sure you have your favourite fried foods or sweets in moderation only and as an occasional part of an overall healthy diet.
