Lions have a special program to honor their noteworthy former players. These players are inducted as “Lions Legends”. Some of the Lions Legends include Charley Ane, Al Baker, Jerry Ball, Terry Barr, Les Bingaman, Cloyce Box, and many others.

The Home Arena Of The Lions

The former home arenas of the Lions include Universal Stadium (1930-1933), University of Detroit Stadium (1934-1937, 1940), Tiger Stadium (1938-1939 and 1941-1974), and Pontiac Silverdome (1975-2001). Since the year 2002, the Lions have been playing their home games in Ford Field. For a football match, the stadium has the capacity to accommodate 65,000 Lions Tickets. The seating capacity for a basketball game is 78,000.

The ground was broken for the construction of Ford Field on November 16, 1999. Its construction was completed on August 24, 2002 at a cost of approximately $430 million. At present, the stadium is the home arena for Team Michigan (AAFL) (2008-present) as well.
